Magician displays a pedestal type stand. An empty glass is placed on top of the stand and covered with a large handkerchief. Performer vanishes a silk hanky. The handkerchief covering the glass is removed and the silk has reappeared in the glass. This is the effect that was popular with conjurors in the early nineteen hundreds. Known as the handkerchief pedestal.

Many other effects are possible with the utility pedestal. Tricks with cards, coins, bills, sponge balls, sponge rabbits eggs, dice, rope, etc.
